What kind of day do you want?

It’s really up to you to decide what kind of day you’ll have

You see it’s not when you wake up, it’s how you wake up.  It’s not when you go to sleep but it’s how you go to sleep.

Whether we realise it or not, we are hard wired to notice negativity and drama .. it’s an inbuilt primal survival mechanism.   But we can stop ourselves from falling down the rabbit hole of worry, anxiety and fear by being more mindful of what we read, watch, do & absorb.

Unless it’s information that empowers us, it doesn’t serve us

Every emotion we feel leaves a marinating effect in our body’s tissues so, if you absorb  or think anything negative, you’ll feel it expressed in your body.

Our thoughts control our feelings and our feelings determine our emotions

And our emotions impact our mood which in turn affects ourselves and those around us and determines the kind of day we have.

So let’s be more mindful of what we read, watch & do

When we awake, the first thing many of us do is reach for our phone. This isn’t the best way to start the day as, dependent on what you’re absorbing, it could trigger your minds to instantly start stressing, worrying & planning leaving absolutely no time to be grateful for the many good things we have.

Try this mindfulness exercise for the coming week

When you go to sleep, leave your mobile phone in another room.  Then, when you open your eyes in the morning you won’t be tempted to reach for your phone.  Instead, spend those first few morning minutes thinking of something you are grateful for.   Being grateful not only brings us absolutely into the moment but it alleviates worry, fear and even anger.  Negative & positive emotions cannot be felt in the body nor expressed at the same time so replace any worry with happier thoughts.

Before you go to bed, read something that serves you, such as a book on personal growth or something uplifting that makes you feel happy.   Avoid negative news or violence just before bed, instead, watch something light hearted or something that makes you laugh, although, not at the expense of others

You are the most qualified person at being the best version of you, so it’s up to you to work on yourself and create an amazing life.  So why not try the mindful exercise above every day for a week and see how it makes you feel.

The best way to predict your future is to create it.
