BENEFITS OF Mindful Meditation
I have practiced meditation everyday for the past 10 years using different methods from yantras, mantras, breathing, walking, guided, eating and other awareness based meditations.
I always remain open to new techniques and recently I have been trying mindfulness meditation which I find makes life easier to deal with. By concentrating on the present helps me deal with any stress that occurs in my everyday life. Mindful meditation is a very simple concept which has been proven to have many benefits for our bodies and minds.
Mindfulness is a mind-body approach to well-being which helps reduce anxiety and stress. MRI scans now confirm what has been understood for thousands of years, that by practising Mindfulness our brains actually change.
Mindful meditation allows you to reach a peaceful mental state by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.
Many times, I expect like me, you have arrived at your destination and you remember absolutely nothing about your journey. Or you start eating a meal and suddenly you realise you are on your last mouthful but remember little about the taste or the content? Don’t worry most people experience this ‘mindlessness’ or auto-pilot situation.
In the 21st century we are all extremely busy which has been accentuated by technology and the constant use of mobile devices.
It is all too easy to lose our awareness of the present moment. As human beings we are all too often caught living, either in the past, or in the future and not ‘in the present’ or now! Our bodies cry out for assistance, but we are too busy to help.
Mindfulness is a perfect way to see clearly what is happening in our minds and our bodies.
Obviously we cannot eliminate life’s pressures and strains although mindfulness has been proven to calm the body which benefits the heart, head and body. Mindfulness allows us to focus just on the present which cultivates mind clarity and understanding and will help to improve our quality of life.
We need to recognise, slow down and even stop any habitual reactions. Mindfulness according to Kabat Zinn means paying attention in a particular way, on purpose in the present moment.
Many studies and research have been conducted over many years in connection with mindfulness. Perhaps it will be a tool to help deal with stress. You may like to test your stress on the following link http://www.bemindfulonline.com/
